Quick fixes for the permissions and sensors Starfield uses to align the sky.
The sky does not follow my device
- Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Motion & Fitness and allow access for Starfield.
- Move the device in a figure-eight motion to help recalibrate its compass.
- Keep the device away from magnets, cases with magnetic closures, and large metal objects.
True north or the visible sky looks wrong
- Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Starfield.
- Choose While Using the App. Precise Location is not required.
- Return to Starfield after changing the permission.
Augmented reality is unavailable
- Open iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and allow access for Starfield.
- Make sure no other app is actively using the camera, then reopen Starfield.
Observation images do not load
Check your internet connection and retry. Public astronomy image services can occasionally be unavailable. Starfield's sky map and bundled data continue to work without them.
